Tippecanoe County Siren Test 2

Posted by admin on October 10th, 2009 and filed under tippecanoe county | 12 Comments »

This is the 2001-DC that was heard in my last video. It’s located at Hwy 52 and Morehouse Rd. in West Lafayette. This was filmed during the monthly test of the Tippecanoe County Outdoor Warning System which is done on the first Saturday of each month at 11am (haven’t changed the camcorder clock from daylight savings time).

    Wish I had that …
Wish I had that power. I actually don’t mind the sound of this particular 2001 though.

    Yeah, I like the …
Yeah, I like the lower pitched ones like this one, and also the unusually high pitched ones, just because they sound different. If Federal redesigned the horn though, the newer ones may sound a lot better, and they may actually carry further. The bell in the middle of the horn could be ditched, because it makes the higher harmonics resonate.

    Oh well. That’ll …
Oh well. That’ll give you more time to scout out the location. I’m still trying to determine what would be a good location to record the 4/5 port 1000T I want to record on September 9.

Probably the better sounding of the 2001 series. :)

you know I just realized I won’t be able to get that video until next week. I didn’t pay attention to the date and I thought this Saturday was going to be the first one in September, I guess we’ll have to wait, haha.

I’m really looking forward to hearing those TBolts, and what ever else you can get in there.

BTW, aren’t you on the Siren Board?

    yea, I like the …
yea, I like the sound of this siren… for a 2001. I am glad I live so close to it. The Thunderbolt you are hearing is on top of the police station in West Lafayette a little over a half mile from where this was filmed. Check out my account tomorrow where I will post a video filmed in between West Lafayette’s 2 thunderbolts at a point about a half mile away from each of them. I hope to hear a distant 3t22 and the STH10 at Purdue also.

    We’ve got one that …
We’ve got one that sounds just like this one in the Crescent Hill neighborhood in Louisville, KY, but I’m not sure where it is. It’s been there since at least 1998.

    Not a bad sounding …
Not a bad sounding 2001! This one sounds more like a rotating Model 5 than many others do. I thought I could hear a Thunderbolt in the background too.
