Rodrigue’s Acadiana is a collaborative effort between the ULL College of the Arts, the Paul and Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum, Acadiana Arts Council, Acadiana Center for the Arts, Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission and Lafayette Consolidated Government.
This will be the first time Rodrigue’s work will be on display on a significant scale in his hometown, Lafayette, Louisiana. Gala events such as the weeklong Festival of the Arts, an honorary degree to the artist, and the declaration of Rodrigue Day by the city will round out the significant offerings. The young generation of artists in Acadiana will be touched and inspired both by Rodrigue’s work and his presence.

Linda Ronstadt grabó esta canción, compuesta por Roy Orbison, en 1977.También lo hizo en español con el nombre de “Lago azul”.
I feel so bad I got a worried mind
I’m so lonesome all the time
Since I left my baby behind
On Blue Bayou
Saving nickels saving dimes
Working til the sun don’t shine
Looking forward to happier times
On Blue Bayou
I’m going back someday
Come what may
To Blue Bayou
Where the folks are fine
And the world is mine
On Blue Bayou
Where those fishing boats
With their sails afloat
If I could only see
That familiar sunrise
Through sleepy eyes
How happy I’d be
Gonna see my baby again
Gonna be with some of my friends
Maybe I’ll feel better again
On Blue Bayou
Saving nickels saving dimes
Working til the sun don’t shine
Looking forward to happier times
On Blue Bayou
I’m going back someday
Come what may
To Blue Bayou
Where the folks are fine
And the world is mine
On Blue Bayou
Where those fishing boats
With their sails afloat
If I could only see
That familiar sunrise
Through sleepy eyes
How happy I’d be
Oh that boy of mine
By my side
The silver moon
And the evening tide
Oh some sweet day
Gonna take away
This hurting inside
Well I’ll never be blue
My dreams come true
On Blue Bayou

Roy Orbison and Friends (A Black & White Night) 1987 – Blue Bayou
This concert was taped in black and white and featured many of Orbison’s hits at the Ambassador Hotel’s Coconut Grove nightclub in Los Angeles. It was taped on September 30, 1987, approximately a year before his death on December 6, 1988. It was originally broadcast on January 3, 1988 on the premium cable channel HBO (Home Box Office).
According to Wikipedia…
It was put together by musical director T-Bone Burnett. Orbison was accompanied by a supporting backing band which included many notable musical performers. All were fans who volunteered to participate in the special. Other celebrity admirers of Orbison were in the audience, including Billy Idol, Sandra Bernhard, and Kris Kristofferson. The backing band was the TCB Band, which accompanied Elvis Presley from 1969 until his death in 1977. The band included Glen D. Hardin on piano, James Burton on lead guitar, Jerry Scheff on bass, and Ronnie Tutt on drums. Male background vocalists, some of whom also joined in on guitar, were Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, Jackson Browne, J.D. Souther, and Steven Soles. The female background vocalists were K.D. Lang, Jennifer Warnes, and Bonnie Raitt.

Words & Music by Joe Melson & Roy Orbison
Recorded by Roy Orbison, 1963 (#15)
Also by Linda Ronstadt, 1977 (#3)
*absolute perfection awsesome song!!! It must have been nice to actually live in a free country back then. ralph6343
It was once said that Roy Orbison’s voice had a quality that made him sound like he was from another planet. The voice was so great and had such a unique quality as to make it almost surreal. With his three octave range he could be lighthearted as in “Pretty Woman” or tragic as in “Crying,” “It’s Over,” and “Running Scared.” His voice literally could give me chills. Orbison is a true rock n roll legend and a great anthology such as this one is an essential item in every rock lover’s collection. His voice could produce raw emotion and this well selected collection demonstrates why so many consider Roy to be the greatest voice ever.
