I grew up in Louisiana and, traditionally, has always been a Red state. I know many people who still live there, and they are all die-hard Republicans who tend to vote a straight-ticket w/o any splits at all …
I’m with you on your question though … If I was a victim of Katrina and McCain had voted against providing aid & unemployment benefits to me and the other victims, I would never have cast a vote for him … But, then again, I don’t live there anymore ~ Instead, I moved to another red state – Texas …
*** I also agree with the person who said that Louisiana has a very strong religious base, which is always a good sign that a state is going to vote conservative. The majority of the people I know there are either Pentecostal or Southern Baptist (especially in the northern areas) …

I guess they have something against obama, or they fell into all the peer pressure, cause Louisiana is surrounded by Republicans.

That’s only New Orleans which is mostly black. The rest Louisiana is mostly white so they don’t care that much about New Orleans.

Maybe they were still ticked off at the New Orleans Mayor and the Louisiana governor. Both Liberal Democrats.
@Lobotomy(above) – How much time have you spent in the south? Your biased ignorance is showing.

I talked to my brother this afternoon and got blasted by him b/c I voted for Obama … During my brother’s tirade, he used that "N" word so many times, I finally had to come up with an excuse to politely get off the phone with him. My entire family is like that, I’m so glad I didn’t raise my children there …

The majority of people living in Louisiana are white, and racist. My soon to be in laws are in Louisiana, and even though I love them, they are the most ignorant racist people i’ve ever met. My Future Mother in Law is voting for McCain because he’s white, and that’s it.
Also because of their racism they couldn’t give a crap less about Katrina because it got a lot of black people out of their state. That’s how they look at it. Sad but true.

La. is the most prejudiced state in the union.
My daughter lives in La.
Her mother in law scolded me because I spoke to a black cashier in Wal Mart, I asked the girl about her beautiful unusual name.
mama in law grabbed my arm and pulled me away from the counter and said,"We don’t talk to n—— here." I replied, :We don’t even use that word in California." she said, " You are not in California, you are on "P" Ridge" I asked her what the heck is P ridge? She said it is prejudice ridge we don’t let n—–s on the street after dark.
Yikes where has she been in the past 30 years.
