Small Claims Court Question?

Posted by admin on December 20th, 2009 and filed under tippecanoe county | 3 Comments »

Hello,

I currently live in Tippecanoe county Indiana. I have a few questions regarding a potential small claims lawsuit.
Over a year ago I lent a friend of my a winter coat. The coat itself is valued at $150-$200. I initially lent her the coat in April 2008. As of yet, she has been unwilling to return it. I have repeatedly asked her for the coat in person, through text messages, and phone calls. Half of the time she does not even respond to me. Right now, the only concrete evidence is a text message from her stating "I will be in store tomorrow, and will make sure I don’t forget your coat" is this enough evidence to win a case like this? Also, about a week ago I went to her apartment in an effort to get the coat back, and she verbally told me she was not sure where it was, but would make sure I got it back within a two day time period. Her boyfriend was in the room and heard this whole conversation transpire. Could I in fact use him as a witness? Also, I realize that one is not supposed to lie under oath, but what if he does to protect his girlfriend? I know its bearing false witness, but how would I prove something like that? Basically, given this situation I just need some advice on what to do. I don’t think this girl will give me the money for the coat based on her inability to call me back etc. What are the chances that I would win a case like this? And, do you have any advice for me while I build my case? I wouldn’t file a suit until after the holidays/mid January. I appreciate all the help I can get.

All a small claims court will do is issue a judgement, presumably if you win it, it will be on your behalf…..Then you have to have the judgement enforced, small claims court will not do that . You would have to file a civil suit to have it enforced…..Do what the others have suggested and drop this, at this point it just isn’t worth it anymore.

Prophecies Tecumseh Strange World’s Most Amazing Prophet

Posted by admin on November 21st, 2009 and filed under tippecanoe county | 8 Comments »

Tecumseh was a Native American leader, who tried to unite the Native Americans to withstand the Europeans that were taking their land and changing it.

He and his brother by 1808 set up a new town to become the capitol of a great Indian confederacy, equivalent of Washington, D.C., but in a territory greater than that of the United States of the 1810s.

Video shows birthplace in Ohio, the Galloway cabin in Ohio, where he learned to read and write, and the area in Indiana, where the brothers set up their nation. They were founders of Tippecanoe County, Indiana.

Tecumseh (”Panther Across the Sky”), an Indian messiah named after his birth sign–a great light which lit the skies above the Colonies in 1768–and his brother Tenskwatawa (”Open Door”) formed what became known as Prophet’s Town by the Wabash River in what became Indiana in 1808.

Tecumseh is considered one of the founders of Tippecanoe County, Indiana.

He made many several predictions that may have been the most amazing ever made. One prophecy was that a sign would appear to indicate that the Great Spirit was guiding him.

He predicted that, when he went to Detroit, he would stomp and the earth would shudder. On November 16, 1811, a great searing flash lit the continent. Then, on December 16, 1811, Tecumseh arrived at Detroit. Suddenly a deep, terrifying rumble covered an immense area. One of the world’s most powerful earthquakes occurred at the time he predicted (New Madrid). He also predictied the death of several American presidents.

At the top of the cliff, where Tecumseh and his brother spoke to his followers, we heard a strange sound. Was this an animal sound, or the lingering spirit of a Native American?

More information about Tecumseh, the history of Tippecanoe County, and John Purdue is given in the new book, Uncle: My Journey With John Purdue. http://74.125.47.132/search?q=cache:-cSvoc1J_FEJ:www.amazon.com/Uncle-Journey-John-Purdue-Founders/dp/1557534586+%22Uncle:+My+Journey+with+John+Purdue%22&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us

Tippecanoe County Siren Test (poor quality)

Posted by admin on October 25th, 2009 and filed under tippecanoe county | 5 Comments »

This poor quality video was taken with my cell phone back in March when Indiana conducted it’s statewide tornado drill around 7pm. I’ve put off uploading this because of the bad quality but I decided to anyways. Sirens heard are a 2T22, a 3T22, a STH10, and some 2001’s. Filmed near Purdue West at Purdue University.
