Most empires are ranked by land so see how powerful they are. when America doubled the size of its nation, more independence cause it basically meant it went up the global ranking for power and greater sense of nationhood cause it really heightened the sense of America making its way up the world

They didn’t vote for him, they didn’t want him to be president and yet they ask for his help when they are in trouble. Who do these people think they are? Why should he bother with someone who is against him?

I disagree but only because I think "states rights" is ludicrous and that we should all work as one nation, but you make a valid point. These people cry to be left alone and that things should be dealt with at the state level and want the government to keep out, yet then turn around and cry for help when it suits them.

What effects will Louisana and states on Gulf of Mexico feel if the oil (from oil spill) reaches ashore?

Many marine and coastal environments will be devastated the way that Prince William Sound was in 1989 after the Exxon Valdez Spill.

Thousand of barrels of oil are leaking in the Gulf of Mexico everyday…..What is the US doing to fix the problem or make it not as bad?!

The corralling and burning of the oil will eliminate over 95% of the mass, but more importantly, the burning, chemical dispersants, and natural effects of weathering on the oil mean that the most harmful parts of the oil (aromatics and light-chain hydrocarbons) will be removed. By the time the oil hits the shoreline, it will be a thick, tarry substance that is pretty inert and won’t cause much damage beyond being irritating to walk in.

Should we send Sarah Palin to Louisana to cap the failed oil well that has already created a 3000 square mile?

oil slick?

This crude oil is threatening the fishing industry and the beaches from Biloxi, Mississippi to Pensacola, Florida. With tourist season approaching and our local economy dependent on this, the entire region may suffer from this spill.

Maybe we should send the Queen of Drill Baby Drill to the floor of the Gulf and she can cap the broken well with her big mouth.

We should send her back to Mars where she can co-exist with her own kind.
