I am doing a history paper on Houston, specifically how it became a dominant regional power, and am a little confused by this. A source I am reading says that because the Buffalo Bayou was hard to navigate, Houston businessmen began a project to dredge a navigable channel to the Gulf of Mexico. Then it says "the waterway cut through Galveston Bay and Buffalo Bayou." I just need someone to explain this to me ASAP.

Buffalo Bayou feeds into the Houston Ship Channel, and so do other bayous in the city. But the ship channel is deep enough for huge ships, while Buffalo Bayou is a great deal more shallow and not as wide as the ship channel.

Look at a map of the city. Look at the area where Buffalo Bayou runs from Memorial Park, then goes east as it runs between Memorial Drive and Allen Pkwy. It then heads across the north side of downtown. Keep tracing it and you will see where it become noticeably wider.

Hi i was wondering does anyone know how to change the timing chain on my kawsaki bayou 220 (year 2000) i have all the parts i just need the chain replaced because it stretched out to much please help.

Get yourself a shop manual for your specific make, model and year.

I have never worked on a Kawasaki Bayou, but here is the standard procedure.

1. Pull the left side cover off that has the CDI.
2. Pull the left head side/cam cover off.
3. You will see timing marks on the CDI and the cam.
4. Move the kick starter or bump the starter until you line up the TDC timing mark.
4. Loosen up the cam chain tensioner.
5. I usually mark the timing cogs/sprockets and the shafts they sit on.
6. Remove the lower timing chain sprocket.
7. Remove the top timing chain sprocket.
NOTE: you can sometimes get away with just removing just one timing sprocket.
8. Remove the timing chain.
9. Install the new timing chain – usually from the top.
10. Install the timing chain sprocket(s).
11. Adjust the tensioner to take the slack out of the chain.
12. Pull your spark plug and use a dial indicator (a wooden dowel rod wrapped with duct tape will work) to make sure your timing marks are correct before you put the covers back on.
13. Put the covers back on, put your plug back in and you are done.

I always check, double check and triple check the timing marks and TDC. If you misaligne the timing marks you will damage your engine. Make sure the marks are correct.

I know there is something people who make cakes use to give the look of water; this is a bayou Im doing, so my "water needs to be brown, but what do I use to make it?

If you’re making a firm "water" instead of a liquid water, then you’re probably thinking of natural gelatin (not the colored kind like Jello, just the plain one called gelatin). It will set up when cooled to be a bit firmer than Jello, and be a light brown.

If you want it to be more brown, add a drop of red and green food coloring (or paste) before it sets.
You can also add a bit of acrylic paint (brown, or red+green or blue+orange) but if you use very much the water won’t be quite as clear as it would have with the food coloring (you might want that for a bayou though).

There are other ways to make firm or hard fake water** but the gelatin would be easiest probably.

(If you want a thin or thick liquid water, use regular water or use mineral oil, etc., and color it with acrylic paint, food coloring, etc.)

Please excuse my ignorance of Arkansas WMA regulations, but are you asking about paying for a lease on public land? That seems a bit odd to me, but, then again, I am ignorant of the management in Arkansas.

I went to a bayou with my friends. we stayed in cabins near it and went in the lake that leads to the bayou. we never went in it. why does my hair and swim suit still smell like bayou even though i have taken a shower and washed the swim suit twice? what causes the smell? any ideas as to how to get rid of it?

Wash your clothes again, but add either a cup of white vinegar to the load or a cup of baking soda, but not both at the same time. They cancel each other. One of these two will remove the smell.

Whichever one works on your clothes will also work on your hair. If you use baking soda on your hair, it’s simple. Just wet your hair and work baking soda into it. Let that sit for a few minutes. Then rinse and shampoo.

If you use white vinegar on your hair, it’s a little more complex. Vinegar won’t hurt your hair, but the fumes can sting your eyes. So, first make sure you are in a well ventilated space. Then pour undiluted white vinegar onto your hair. Let that sit for a few minutes. Rinse well and shampoo.

Good luck.

-

i was thinking about that restaraunt and i was curious if it’s been there the whole time, or if they added it later.

The Blue Bayou has been in that location since the attraction opened in 1967. The building was designed to house the attraction, the restaurant, the members-only Club 33 upstairs, the cast member cafeteria downstairs, the kitchens for Blue Bayou and Cafe Orleans, and the Disney family apartment to replace the one above the firehouse on Main Street. Unfortunately, Walt passed away months before the attraction opened so the family never used the unfinished apartment.

I’m not going to lie, I had to look to see where Portland, Fl is. I’ve never fished in that particular area and dont know anyone that has but this time of year the fishing is good. I fish throughout Florida including the panhandle and this time of year Seatrout, Redfish and Scallops and sharks are the main targets of most people. I’m not really sure what you are after but the best fishing is done early morning or late afternoon. Email me specifics and I’ll help you out

You should plan to arrive at Blue Bayou approximately 15 minutes before your scheduled time. How long you schedule to eat will depend on how fast people in your group eat. Allow another 15 minutes to receive your food, though on busy days it can take longer. Allow your group approximately a half hour to forty five minutes to eat, depending on how fast your group members eat.
