I keep picturing trying to get those big, hairy and wet dogs back into the cars for the drive back. I had a newf when I was little and I know from experience that they do not dry off easily. Other then that, that was adorable!

If you are scared to let your Newf swim in the Ocean, maybe you should stick to Lakes? The Ocean can be dangerous for any dog or human, I wouldn’t really worry about it though, Newfs were bred to swim in the Ocean. Just keep an eye on her at all times and keep lots of her favorite treats handy so you can get her to come to you if needed. Good Luck!

Well, there is something to be said for small dogs. Unfortunately my newf likes to sit in my lap. When I come home from he work he runs at me full speed. I just hunker down and cover up. Slobber is another story! Also, if Jack gets near water, he’s going in, no matter how muddy. I look forward to taking him to the beach, these Carmel newfs are definitely happy. My neighbor has two Maltese, and they are great dogs.
