After the big Newfoundland National Specialty Show in Monterey, we took our dog with some of the other Newfie owners to Carmel Beach. This was some of the fun that happened.
I think there were … I think there were 7 or 8. We were down in Monterey for the 2005 National Specialty, I had done the artwork for it, so there were a lot of Newfs everywhere!
We hug an kiss … We hug an kiss Drake every day, he is such a good dog, as almost every Newf is. They are the sweetest, smartest and most gentle dogs you will ever meet. Hope you get one!
totally awesome!!! … totally awesome!!! My dream is to own a Newf. But I have to move first. Now that it’s just me and the hubby, I could devote lots of time to its care. They are worth it!
I agree with below, … I agree with below, we have two rotties that love the ocean. They get a Beach shower rinse off and a quick towel off. I can’t imagine all the hair.
Looks like loads of fun, Makes me want one.
I keep picturing … I keep picturing trying to get those big, hairy and wet dogs back into the cars for the drive back. I had a newf when I was little and I know from experience that they do not dry off easily. Other then that, that was adorable!
If you are scared … If you are scared to let your Newf swim in the Ocean, maybe you should stick to Lakes? The Ocean can be dangerous for any dog or human, I wouldn’t really worry about it though, Newfs were bred to swim in the Ocean. Just keep an eye on her at all times and keep lots of her favorite treats handy so you can get her to come to you if needed. Good Luck!
We are scared our … We are scared our landseer ( same thing only black and white. )will swim out and never come back. Should we keep a leash or let her be free? Cuz it’s hot and we want to take her, but we’re not sure. PLEASE respond!
Well, there is … Well, there is something to be said for small dogs. Unfortunately my newf likes to sit in my lap. When I come home from he work he runs at me full speed. I just hunker down and cover up. Slobber is another story! Also, if Jack gets near water, he’s going in, no matter how muddy. I look forward to taking him to the beach, these Carmel newfs are definitely happy. My neighbor has two Maltese, and they are great dogs.
