I have heard many … I have heard many many rendetions of this song over the years, there are only 2 that I have heard that I have enjoyed as much as the original, Brenda Lee and John Fogerty.
with this particular performance that she had done just was up to par of Brenda Lee, she just didn’t seem to put the energy into it this particular time.
there is a video from 1965 of Brenda Lee doing this song, and she had the energy and the passion in it, that was not in this video, this one just didn’t have the energy
You’ve got to … You’ve got to understand the circumstances. Brenda Lee was a STAR as an 11 year old back in the 50s, with the most incredible voice you’ll ever hear from such a young kid. She got her break when a local DJ convinced Red Foley (country music star) to let her sing at one of his shows. Unrehearsed, she broke into Jambalaya and stole the show. Her EARLY recording of Jambalaya is one of the CLASSIC rendetions of the song. In this vid, she’s just reliving past glories.
Brenda Lee is so … Brenda Lee is so awesome! When she started singing, she didn’t even get paid, now she has sold over 100 million records. I love her and what she has done for women in music. Great video!
