We are french and friday we’ll go from carmel to Santa Monica by car with the direction seen on google map by Bakerfield because we have only 1 day to arrive there.
take the 101 south. it is a much nicer drive. you could search for wineries in paso robles or solvang. Turley in Paso makes some intense zinfindels, not what you would be used to drinking in France but very very good in their own style. Los Olivos Cafe in Los Olivos is a great place for lunch and not very far off the interstate. Santa Barbara is a great place to stop too.
